An ongoing discussion at Column Five HQ is ”What if social media manifested itself in real life?” It’s a question that addresses much of our personal and professional lives and can be characterized as constant noise, new trends, and the occasionally  absurd, among other things. And while most of our commentary tends to evolve into abstract tangents, we decided to focus on one application of the hypothesis. We settled on the idea of “What if you lived in an apartment building with social media?”, but that proved to be a mouthful. So we simplified this title to “What if social media sites were your neighbors?” Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts.

I love this! These sorts of infographics are very common but it’s rare to see one with as good analogies as I’m seeing here. I posted it on my own blog – giving full credit to you, of course. Keep up the great work.

Awesome work! This infographic beautifully pinpoints the distinctive features of each of our beloved social destinations. For Garious team, please check us out at the Twitter room :) .
Although social media is virtual but its growing impact on our lives is real.
And the staggering stats say it all:
Did you know that you need to live 1000+ years to watch every YouTube video?
Did you know the Britney Spears followers on Twitter exceed the populations of several countries combined?
Did you know that 1 out 5 divorces are blamed on Facebook? And so forth….
Yes, social media is invading our lives and it’s a mixed blessing! So, better learn the rules of the game before jumping in. Thanks for sharing this inspiring and refreshing infographic :) .
