There’s only one weekend left to do your taxes. And if you’re anything like us, you waited ’til the last minute. No matter how organized we try to be, the deadline creeps up every year, leaving us scrambling for receipts, documentation, and the oh-so-necessary W-2. Visual Storytelling: Why People Really Watch Mad Men

April 05, 2013

Post by Column Five

At Column Five, we’re huge Mad Men fans. Naturally, we can’t wait for the Season 6 premiere this Sunday. There are plenty of reasons we love the show. (Our in-office fan club even schedules lunch-time recaps.) We all strive for Don Draper’s creative genius—and just like at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, Column Five also allows adult beverages in the office. But while we like to wax philosophical about Don’s moral struggles or the portrayal of female archetypes, there are other reasons we can’t get enough of the show, and we’re pretty sure we’re not alone. Check out this week’s installment of our Visual Storytelling series to find out why.

It’s March Madness, and everybody wants to have the best picks. We have noticed, though, that there seem to be a few trends year after year. Check out the latest in our Visual Storytelling series to find out which teams are most likely to win—whether you want them to or not.

Visual Storytelling: Staying Indoors

March 21, 2013

Post by Column Five

Spring officially arrived this week, but not every region is feeling it. At Column Five HQ, we’re lucky to be near the beach in California, and we don’t take it for granted. But we admit that we do get a little stir-crazy when the weather changes—and staying indoors is particularly painful. We don’t mind when it’s too hot or too cold outside, but when it’s just right, it’s hard to stay focused. The latest installment of our Visual Storytelling series captures our feelings about having to stay indoors.

Visual Storytelling: Apartment Living

March 15, 2013

Post by Column Five

When you’re an apartment dweller, you may not know your neighbors’ names. But you definitely know which ones are the loudest, which probably influences your feelings about them (and their feelings about you). Lately, we’ve noticed a trend in which neighbors tend to harbor more hatred, and it may have something to do with the most basic rule of real estate: location, location, location. This installment of our Visual Storytelling series sums up our theory.

Visual Storytelling: Time Spent on Apps

March 06, 2013

Post by Column Five

At Column Five, we love apps. (Check out the C5 app here). They’re handy, and they make life easier—for the most part. While they can be convenient, apps that constantly need to be updated drive us crazy. The latest in our Visual Storytelling series captures what we think our app time really looks like.

Visual Storytelling: Time Spent Juicing

February 28, 2013

Post by Column Five

In an effort to get healthy in 2013, we here at C5 headquarters have been getting plenty of use out of the new office juicer. We’ve also developed a love-hate relationship with it. We love the delicious, nutritious juices our creative coworkers are making, but we also wonder if all the effort (and fighting over limited fridge real estate) is really worth it. The latest in our Visual Storytelling series breaks down the time spent on this trend — and makes us feel sorry for whoever gets stuck with clean-up duty.

Visual Storytelling: That $10 Bucket of Movie Popcorn

February 21, 2013

Post by Column Five

In honor of the 85th Academy Awards this weekend, the latest in our Visual Storytelling series examines the classic staple of the movie-going experience: popcorn. These days, it’s a treat high in cost and calories. And though we always buy it, we can’t say we enjoy the whole thing.

Valentine’s Day is upon us, bringing the promise of romance — if you remember it, of course. For couples, Valentine’s Day isn’t necessarily a guarantee of a good time. In fact, the longer you’ve been together, the less enthusiastic you may be. Our latest in the Visual Storytelling series gives you an idea of what to expect.

It’s hard to be a little fish in a big corporate pond.
